- What is Miami Mavericks Tennis?
Miami Mavericks Tennis (MMT) is a non-profit tennis organization that offers organized tennis activities and social events to enhance tennis play in the Miami, Florida area. We are guided by a group of member volunteers (our elected Board of Directors) who keep the activities and events running and keep the members informed. We call upon all members to join in organizing the events, as will as participating in them. Our goal is to bring together a “tennis playing” community of LGBT individuals. We also welcome non-LGBT individuals to participate in our events and enjoy what we have to offer.
- Where do the Miami Mavericks play tennis?
The Miami Mavericks play at various tennis venues around the Miami Beach and Miami-Dade county area. Our main “home” courts are located in Flamingo Park in the heart of South Beach. We can also be seen playing at North Shore Tennis Center, Moore Park Tennis Center, San Souci Tennis Center, and Crandon Park Tennis Center.
Join us on Friday nights at Flamingo Park Tennis Center, 1200 Meridian Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139, for “Mavies Friday Night Tennis” from 7-9pm, weather permitting. Register on-line under the “Events” tab on this website.
–Bring your tennis racquet and a great attitude! Water, tennis balls, parking, and showers are provided.
- What if I am a beginner or haven’t picked up a racket in years?
The MMTC welcomes players of ALL LEVELS. We have multiple areas for beginners and Open players to join the fun.
- What kind of tennis activities are there?
–The singles ladder is a great place to get started.
–There is the Sunshine Cup and Florida cup for those who want to get involved in our annual intra-state tennis club competion.
–The Art Deco and Flamingo Open tournaments are annual events and are great ways to play organized competitive tennis at your level. Whether you are a beginner or a former college player, we have a division for every level of player in both singles and doubles. - What can I expect when I become a member?
-Access to the MEMBERS ONLY section of our website
-Access to a MEMBERS ONLY directory including contact information, geographic locations, and playing level abilities of members
-Access to the Single’s Ladder, Team Tennis, Mavies Friday Night Tennis, the Sunshine Cup, and the Florida Cup
-Invitations to attend our social and tennis parties (Summer Social, year-end holiday party, and many other local events throughout the year)
- The Miami Mavericks assess annual dues and fees for activities in order to offset costs. These fees are updated as needed.
